Aquasstar was founded in 1984 by brothers B. Selvaraj and B. Vincent Paul as an aquarium fish breeding, farming, and trading centre in Chennai.

Over the years, it has evolved into an integrated ornamental fish service provider, with operations spanning various sectors, including fish breeding, farming, sourcing, importing, and distribution of more than 300 species of ornamental fish. Today, Aquasstar is a well-established name in the Indian aquarium industry. The company supplies a comprehensive range of products and services by importing high-quality aquarium products, large pond filters, and accessories from 13 countries. It also manufactures a wide range of aquariums, custom-made filter systems, and aquaculture accessories at its in-house factory.

Aquasstar offers over 3,000 premium products catering to diverse needs, including aquarium tanks, planted and marine aquariums, garden fish ponds, terrariums, fountains, aquaculture systems, aquaponics, hydroponics, and water treatment plants. The company supplies products to more than 650 wholesale aquatic shops across India. Its 40,000-square-foot showroom, located in Kolathur, Chennai, showcases a wide variety of products and serves as a key business hub. Aquasstar has a dedicated team of over 40 workers and 10 management staff handling various aspects of the business, from manufacturing to distribution. The core areas of operation include ornamental fish breeding, quarantine, conditioning, and farming, along with the design and manufacture of custom aquariums, filtration systems, and aquaculture accessories.
